Questions & Answers

Every piece is made to order, specially for you, by our team in Montréal. Here's what to know before, during and after your Studio order.

Before you order

What kind of file should I upload?

A PNG or JPEG, up to 20 MB. For a crisp print, use an image that's at least 2000 pixels on its longest side.

We print exactly what you upload: a blurry or low-resolution file will look blurry on fabric too, and that isn't covered as a defect.

Will my piece look exactly like the mockup?

Very close — but not identical. More than 250 of our artist partners have each ordered over 100 units from us, designed on these same mockups. We're good at what we do, and the mockups are a reliable guide.

Still, a flat 2D mockup can't perfectly predict a 3D product that's cut, sewn and worn. Expect small differences:

  • Artwork placement shifts slightly around seams and edges, and patterns won't line up perfectly across seams.
  • Printed fabric looks a little less saturated than a screen, and colours can vary slightly.
  • Solid black prints as a very dark grey.

Do I need to own the rights to my artwork?

Yes. When you upload, you confirm that you created the artwork or have the rights to use it, and you authorize us to print it on the pieces you order.

Your art stays yours: we never print, share or reuse it without your written permission.

How do I choose my size?

When you choose your size on the product design page, the size guide for that style is right there, with its measurements.

Between two sizes? We generally recommend sizing up.

Does the pillowcase come with an insert?

No — the Gustave pillowcase is sold as a cover only, without an insert. Check its dimensions on the product page and pair it with an insert from a local store.

At checkout

How can I pay, and in which currency?

Pay with PayPal, PayPal Pay Later (where available), or a debit or credit card through PayPal's secure checkout. You're charged when you place your order.

Prices are shown in your billing country's currency: Canadian dollars in Canada, US dollars in the United States, and euros in the eurozone.

How much is shipping, and where do you ship?

Shipping is a flat 10 in your currency — and free on orders of 250 or more.

We ship to Canada, the United States and 20 eurozone countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.

Will I pay taxes, duties or customs fees?

In Canada, GST or HST (plus QST in Québec) is added at checkout, based on your province.

Duties: some styles are subject to import duties. For Studio orders, those duties are already included in the price and paid by us — every order ships Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). You'll never pay anything extra when your package arrives.

After you order

When will my order ship?

Every piece is made to order in our Montréal atelier. Before you pay, checkout shows the week your order will ship — usually about three weeks after you order.

That's when your order leaves our atelier; delivery time then depends on where you are. Over 90% of orders ship on time or early. If a piece doesn't pass our quality check, we send it back to production to get it right, which can add two or three days.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Yes, within 1 hour of payment. Email team@legaleriste.com with your order reference and tell us whether you'd like to cancel or correct your shipping address. The confirmation page after checkout has a button that writes this email for you.

After that hour, your order is in production and can no longer be changed.

How do I track my order?

Right after checkout, you'll receive a confirmation email with your personal tracking link. It shows the progress of each custom item in your order, all the way to shipping.

What if something is wrong with my piece?

You have 45 days from your order date to request a redo, from the same tracking link. Tell us what's wrong and add photos. If we can solve it by sending your item back to production, we will.

  • If the problem comes from our production — a print flaw or a sewing defect — the redo is on us.
  • If it comes from the design — a blurry upload, or artwork placed on the wrong side — it's on you.

Every piece is made to order, so we don't accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind.

To keep your piece looking its best, machine-wash cold on a delicate cycle and hang to dry. Damage from hot water or the dryer isn't covered.
